About Us

Welcome to the Composite and Intelligent Materials Laboratory (CIML). CIML was established in 1991 at the University of Nevada, Reno. The mission of CIML is to provide education to undergraduate and graduate students through basic and applied research in the areas of advanced materials, structures and systems. Our focus is on fundamental understanding of behavior of advanced materials, such as magnetorheological fluids and magnetorheological elastomers, and study of electromechanical systems performance for various engineering applications. In addition, we design, fabricate, and test prototypes, utilizing these materials, for shock and vibration control. If you are interested in joining the CIML team or would like to receive further information please feel free to contact us.
